“Where have you been?”
“I miss reading the Conoravirus Chronicles.”
I have been sick. The infection I had taken a toll on my body. Two of the three medications made me drowsy and dizzy. The third made me jumpy. I was in no condition to write last week. I committed to writing one piece for Indy K12. That was hard as hell. It’s really hard to write when you feel like your brain is swimming.
Because I was sick, some of my work did not get done. I did phone calls and Zoom meetings from bed. Don’t worry. The video was off. The only time I got out of bed was to participate in an interview where I had to have the camera on. Why didn’t I take off work? I need my remaining sick days to roll over to the next school year. It is not clear what next school year will look like, but I had two paychecks last school year slashed in half, back to back, because I ran out of sick days. I stretch those days between myself and caring for my boys. I was confident I could sleep when needed and address any task I couldn’t postpone.
I’m still on two of the medications this week. I feel better and my appetite is back. Tomorrow, I’ll share what we did…or what my family did last week.
Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of the Coronavirus Chronicles.
Stay safe, and wash your hands correctly. Tschüss!
