Yesterday, I closed chapter 37; it was the last chapter with my dad in it. Despite the pain that reality brings me, I am determined to make chapter 38 a great one. Day one is almost done, and it was awesome.
Thanks to my childhood friend, I checkout the eight episode series Clickbait on Netflix. My intention was to watch one or two episodes to see if I liked it. Listen, my husband and I watched the entire series. Neither one of us guessed who was behind the crime that took place. I was wide awake binge-watching television as chapter 38 began. My husband began chapter 39 four days prior, and we had a good time laughing and making predictions about the plot.
We decided to go to bed around 4 a.m. At 6:30 a.m. the alarm went off. Luckily our children got up, fixed their lunches for school, fixed their own breakfast, and were ready to go when I got out of bed at 7:40 a.m., 15 minutes before they had to be at the bus stop. Before they left, I had them log into Skyward, where they can view their grades. They both had straight As. I told them I was proud. Then my phone rang. It was my aunt singing “Happy Birthday.” I waved goodbye … luckily the bus stop is our house.
Then, I met up with my mom. We took care of some business, and we chatted for an hour. I received birthday wishes via text, email, and phone call through out the day. Around noon, I realized I hadn’t eaten anything but crackers. Instead of eating lunch, I decided to make my birthday dessert. Anyone who knows me knows I always have a root beer float on my birthday. This year, I did a little twist. I used chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla, and I added a little Bailey’s. Let me tell y’all … this was a good part of my day.
I lounged around doing absoultely nothing until it was time to get dressed all fancy for dinner at Ocean Prime. This year, we took our boys. They were so excited. My boys and I tried sushi for the first time. James and I decided we never needed to have that again. Jeremiah loved it.
I got to open cards from my husband and sons. It was a great night. Now, I’m signing off to eat more dessert. I’m also wondering why I made plans to work tomorrow because I am so full and tired but I’m sure I’ll be fine.
Chapter 38, let’s rock, and let’s roll!
